This semester, the Rec Center is offering a wide variety of fitness classes for all experience levels: From a calming yoga practice to a fast-paced boxing class, there is something for everyone.
If you’re looking to break a sweat with some high-energy cardio, try out Spin with Jake or Introduction to Boxing Movement & Conditioning! Jake’s Spin Fusion class is an upbeat and exciting hour-long class held on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 PM and is sure to get your heart pumping. I attended this class, despite never having taken a spin class, and walked away feeling simultaneously invigorated and exhausted. I highly recommend that you give it a try. Plus, as a bonus, you get to pedal to some great tunes (song requests are encouraged!). If spin isn’t your jam, throw some punches in Introduction to Boxing Movement & Conditioning. This unique class combines cardio, strength training, and precision boxing techniques, and is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. In addition to the high-impact classes, there are some great low-impact fitness options. However, that’s not to say that you won’t be challenged. Andrea certainly isn’t afraid of a challenge in her Pilates Fusion class. This class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:20 PM and is the perfect way to stretch and strengthen all at the same time. Get ready to work, because it is not as easy as some may think. I’m speaking from experience when I say you may be humbled attending this class, but you will walk away feeling stronger, and you will likely sign up again the next week. If you’re in the mood for some mindfulness, sign up for Yoga with Brad held every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:20 PM. This class provides an opportunity to center yourself as you reconnect with your mind, body, and soul in a fifty-minute practice. Head to the Campus Recreation website to view the full class schedule and book your spot. Make sure to sign up early because space is limited and spots fill up quickly!
